Description of project

The objectives of the assignment were to redesign and upgrade the SACREEE website into an interactive web-based community portal. The update would help SACREEE promote increased access to modern energy services and improved energy security across the SADC Region. The assignment involved completely reorganizing and restructuring the existing data to incorporate new features, making it more visually appealing, easy to navigate, and user-friendly. The new SACREEE community portal facilitated increased awareness of the organization's role and functions, improved its corporate online profile, and supported its general objectives through high-impact communication and interactive features. The platform also provided targeted, timely, and statistical information and GIS maps on energy resources, projects, and stakeholders in Southern Africa, particularly in the field of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

Services provided

We worked with SACREEE to develop a conceptual design for the new platform, including the development of a wireframe and mock-ups of the new design, as well as confirmation of technologies to be used. Once agreed, the team progressed with the development and implementation of the new platform, including integration of a new geospatial database, a community forum, and other functionalities to encourage engagement from SACREEE’s network of stakeholders. The project also included the development of training manuals to cover different functionalities of the new platform, and coordination for the ongoing maintenance of the systems.
