Aninver to support WBG with a tourism project in The Gambia

Aninver has signed a new contract with the World Bank Group (WBG) to perform consulting services as part of the project "Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia".

Jose de la Maza, CEO of Aninver Development Partners, announced the new project signature:

We are very happy to announce that we will serve The World Bank in the assignment: "Digital Skills Training for Public Actors in Tourism". The contract is part of the newly approved WBG lending operation: "Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia".

The objective of this assignment is to design and deliver training programs to improve the capacities and productivity of the key public sector stakeholders in the tourism sector by increasing their knowledge of digital technologies and innovation.

The target audience of the training program is decision-makers and technical staff from the Ministry of Tourism, the Gambia Tourism Board, the Gambia Tourism and Hospitality Institute, and other relevant public agencies and administrations.

The Tourism Diversification and Resilience in The Gambia program is supported by US$68 million IDA Investment Project Financing (IPF) and will be executed in five years.

The objective of the program project is to improve the diversification and resilience of the Gambian tourism sector by strengthening institutional and policy framework, improving capabilities and access to funds for tourism-related MSME suppliers, and building resilience through the strengthening of sustainable coastal infrastructure and rehabilitation of existing tourism sites.

The World Bank plans to measure the results of the program according to the following indicators:

  • (a) Share of arrivals from non-traditional markets
  • (b) Share of beneficiary MSMEs with new or expanded contracts with tourism Lead Firms (disaggregated by gender)
  • (c) Increased shoreline with targeted coastal erosion control measures.

This engagement continues the work we are doing in tourism in the region for the World Bank, after an initial contract in Senegal.
